Through state-of-the-art Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committees (JATC), the affiliated unions of the Toledo Northwest Ohio Building Trades provide quality training and upgrade training for apprentices and journeypersons. These facilities are run by only the most certified instructors and provide funding, support and up-to-date curriculum for the very best training in the building and construction industry.

A union-trained craftsman receives certified training, including safety and skills training, at no cost to the union member. Each of our affiliated JATCs provide safety training both on the job and through Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) construction outreach training programs.

The construction industry relies heavily on skilled craftsmanship, so apprenticeship and upgrade training programs give our union members the most modern skills and knowledge to be fully productive trades workers. Union journeyperson-level workers are kept current and up-to-date in the newest technologies because unions provide skills-upgrade training that constantly addresses new training needs and designs appropriate training courses.

Statistics show that union training programs significantly outperform their non-union counterparts in enrollment levels, graduation rates, overall curriculum and training facility quality.
